Maximizing your study experience abroad: how to translate your international experience to potential employers?

“Maximizing your study experience abroad: how to translate your international experience to potential employers?”, ki jo bo vodil  prof. Matevž Rašković.

Why attend the workshop?

A recent report by World Economic Forum (2015) shows a fundamental shift in the top 10 skills required by the job market by 2020. Employers are increasingly moving away from requiring “hard” technical expertise, towards valuing more also the “soft” people and cross-cultural skills. Among new job market entrants with limited work experience, potential employers are looking for international experience, cultural intelligence and various cross-cultural skills (e.g. communication, negotiation, team working, problem solving etc.). All these can be required during an international study experience, but students need to be aware of how to maximize their experience abroad, as well as present the value of such experience to potential employers, or selection committees at various international study programmes, when continuing their studies abroad.
Outline of the workshop:

* Understanding the motives for going on an international study exchange.

* The various stages during an international study exchange process: from honeymoon to dealing with cross-cultural stress and overcoming the blues on return.

* Why employers and recruiters value international experience?

* How business schools, international offices and programme coordinators see your study exchange: putting yourself in the other person’s shoes.

* How to represent your country and school abroad: becoming a good ambassador increases your own international profile.

* The key do’s and don’ts on an international study exchange.

* Questions and answers.
